Artist of the Week: JoJo (c) 2017

When you think of JoJo the first word that should pop into your head is persistent. The 26-year-old singer, songwriter and actress has been creating and performing since the ripe age of six when she was offered a record deal. Of course, her mom felt she was much too young then so it was not until she was 12 years-old that she signed with Blackground Records and released her self-titled debut album. The album peaked at No. 4 on Billboard 200. In 2006 she released her second album The High Road, which included “Too Little Too Late” that peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s Hot 100. After some trouble with her label that prevented her from properly releasing her third album, JoJo finally left Blackground Records and signed with Atlantic Records in 2014. In the summer of 2016 she released her single featuring Wiz Khalifa “Fuck Apologies”, and finally released her third album Mad Love months later. JoJo embarked on the Mad Love Tour at the start of the year traveling around Europe and North America. It has been a roller coaster ride but JoJo never gave up on her goal to continue releasing music for her fans during that seven-year legal battle. It might have taken her a decade to finally release her art–but she did it.
